Santi’S Southern Italian Bar & Kitchen

If you're anywhere near Hull and craving an authentic taste of Southern Italy, Santi’S Southern Italian Bar & Kitchen on Wilson Street in Anlaby might just become your new favorite escape. Tucked at 13a Wilson St, Hull HU10 7AN, this warm and vibrant spot isn't just about the food-it’s about the full Italian experience, from rustic interiors and a buzzing bar to fresh ingredients and a menu that sings with soul.

What makes Santi’S stand out in the sea of Italian eateries around? It starts with the atmosphere. The restaurant blends contemporary charm with the welcoming spirit you'd expect from a family-run trattoria. Add in outdoor seating for those summer wine-and-dine moments, wheelchair accessibility throughout, and you’ve got a place that cares just as much about comfort as it does about cuisine.

Speaking of cuisine, let’s talk dishes. This place is a haven for Italian food lovers. Their Carbonara is a creamy, peppery dream-made the traditional way, without shortcuts. Looking for something hearty? Try the Catanese Rigatoni, bursting with southern spices and rich tomato sugo. The Meat Feast Style Pizza is pure indulgence, with bold toppings and a crisp wood-fired crust, while the Garlic Mushroom Pizza delivers a beautifully earthy twist.

Prefer something lighter? The Aeolian Salad balances fresh greens, citrus, and Mediterranean accents, perfect with a chilled glass of white wine from their carefully curated list. And if you're in for a morning treat, their Poached Eggs on Toast with Pesto has quickly gained cult status-rich, savory, and just the right hint of basil punch. It’s no wonder Santi’S is popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner-each meal feels like a mini Italian holiday.

Now, if you're a brunch explorer or coffee enthusiast, this spot is definitely worth bookmarking. Their coffee game is strong, with rich espresso, smooth cappuccinos, and even a solid tea selection for those who lean British. Add a slice of their homemade Tiramisu and you’ve got yourself the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

Drinks? You’re covered. The bar serves everything from cocktails and spirits to beer and wine. Whether you're sipping a Corona in the sun or indulging in a full-bodied red to complement your Tagliata Di Manzo, the experience always feels curated, never generic. The lemon chicken skewers and Spiedini also make great companions for a drink-led evening-small plates that are big on flavor.

The team here really seems to get it. Service is friendly but professional, with staff who know the menu inside-out and are happy to make suggestions. Whether you're dining solo, catching up with friends, or organizing a relaxed date night, the vibe strikes the right balance between casual and intimate.

It’s also worth noting that takeaway options are available-so even if you're short on time, you don’t have to miss out on Santi’S signature flavor. That said, if you have the time, grab a seat, soak in the atmosphere, and let your senses do the traveling.

Brought my dad for an early Father’s Day meal and we was absolutely blown away by the food. Me and my mum had the Gorgonzola & fig brunette for starters which was nice, fresh & light. Dad had the lamb meatballs and you could taste the depth of flavour in the sauce, it was amazing. For mains my dad had the flat ironed steak with peppercorn sauce and it was the best peppercorn sauce ever and the steak was cooked perfectly. I had the seafood risotto which was the best risotto I’d ever had. So buttery and flavoursome. My mum had the seafood stew which was HUGE enough for 2 people. The amount of seafood you got in it was unreal. The service was great but my dad thought those in the kitchen was very loud. Banging pans etc (he is old) But it’s very hard to find somewhere my dad is impressed with and he loved his meal so much :)

Always come to Santis and have had a great time, food is amazing, the atmosphere is perfect! Our young waiter, Issy, was very professional and smiley, she took our order quickly and gave us 10/10 service and the food was exceptional as always!

Been to Santi's several times and the food is always amazing, the prices are really fair and the portions are large which is great. We did have to ask for our drinks order a second time as it was misplaced but generally the service was really good and friendly. Feel as though they need more gluten free dessert options to match the main menu choices!

I recently had the chance to dine at this Italian restaurant, and the food was absolutely amazing! I had the olives, pulled shin pasta and a goats cheese and honey pizza which were all so good. However, as much as I adored the food, I can’t ignore how rushed the experience felt. We were seated and served quickly, and asked every minute if we were ready to order when we had only just sat down. After getting the food we were circled to see if we had finished eating, and asked to move in to a different room before we had even paid the bill. This is because we had a late table and they wanted to finish up, but we weren’t the last people to leave the restaurant. I feel that if booking a late table makes for awkward and rushed experience, maybe make your last booking time earlier so nobody has to experience this. This was especially disappointing since we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, which I had put on the booking notes. I had hoped for some acknowledgment but there was nothing. Not even “happy birthday” was said to him or anything which was quite disappointing as if I had known I wouldn’t have booked it for a celebration. So, while the food here is truly top-notch, if you’re looking for a place to celebrate something special, maybe keep looking.

We discovered this place a year ago when taking a bus from Hull to Beverley, there is a 'stop' literally outside Santi's. It looked good and 'talked a good story' on it's website. It has taken us long enough, but eventually we've been there. To begin let's explain our 3-Star review for 'Atmosphere' ... it was a windy, dull Friday afternoon and just 9 other customers came in during our visit. There is nothing the restaurant could have done, but we believe getting a 3-Star Atmosphere review from us under such circumstances would be highly unlikely in most other restaurants. The background music was all Italian played at a very good level to allow lsitening, talking, eating,in comfort. They played Eros Rammazotti and Laura Pausini to name just two. The decor is unreal, you could be in Italy. Typical tiles ... everywhere even as the table tops. We've never seen an open kitchen like this. It's more or less the equivalent of a Kitchen/Dining space in a large house. Every move made by and word spoken by the chef and assistants could be seen and heard (if you wanted to listen). Transparency in the extreme. It's right there, in your face as you enter, they cannot hide, they have no where to go if they get it wrong ... and that is probably why they don't! Our welcome was warm and friendly. Sit where you like, we're not busy ... can we sit at that table for 4 (we're 2) for the space? No problem. The appetiser of Olives and bread is anything but plain Oloives and Bread ... they've gone to the trouble of seasoning olives ... THIS is going to be a good place we realised! Don't believe us .. have them ... go on try them. You may not want a starter afterwards, you may order more ... Olives and Bread! The service was quiet, efficient, attentive, friendly, all the things you'd expect in a family run restaurant when the 'family' really care about their food and their customers. Truly it's excellent. Nothing is too much trouble and everything can be done. The food, we don't have enough time to write you the right description. It's simple, authentic Italian food. You simply have to go there. Choose something and enjoy it. Then choose something else and enjoy ... the difficulty you will have is being able to stop ordering more. The wine list is typically Italian, has something for everyone in terms of taste and budget. We asked for our wine to be decanted ... it was and no one hesitated to meet our request. Could go on ... and on .... and on. But there really is no point. This is undoubtedly a world class restaurant that's down to earth, family run, in a family environment, with family in mind. But, beyond this, it's amongst the very best Italian restaurants we have been to anywhere including Italy (if you read our reviews you'll see we've been to a LOT all over the world). There's a photo of some quite beautiful, but empty plates .. couldn't stop eating to take a photo for you lot! :-) Perhaps the most pleasurable aspect of this restaurant is that it is 'affordable'. It's THAT good and yet it remains affordable. Now why can't other restauranteurs achieve that? (Our bill may not suggest this is so, but we treated ourselves to a particular wine for a celebration and it was approx 45% of our total bill.) That's it folks! You have to go there, if you don't live in the area and are unlikely to travel here under normal circumstances but you love food, and Italian food ... put it on your Bucket List ... it's that good.
